Miranshah: Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) commander Hakeemullah Mehsud killed in a recent drone attack along with two more and injured two in North Waziristan on Friday, claims a Reuters reporter, but a representative of TTP refuses to the report.
The attack on Friday dusk aimed a house in Dandey Darpkhel, three miles north of Miranshah. This town is considered as a hub of Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants.
Those killed in the attack are still unknown to identity. But according to sources, it is believed that a senior commander is killed.
In following two days, this is the second drone attack. The Thursday’s strike killed two people in Miranshah bazaar.
There was a rumor that Hakeemullah Mehsud, chief of TTP who has a $5 million reward on his head is likely to be killed among the dead.
The Reuters report cited that TTP chief has been successfully targeted. The unnamed senior security official claimed that they are sure that they have killed Hakeemullah Mehsud in the attack.
As per by an intelligence officer, Hakeemullah Mehsud’s funeral is likely to be held at 3pm on Saturday at Miranshah.
In contrary, the representative of TTP totally refused to the statement of the chief being killed in the attack.
A week after since Prime Minister Nawaz Shrief has urged his US foil to end drone attacks, US congressman Alan Grayson proclaimed that the drone attacks could end if Pakistan wanted them to end; the attacks could never be possible without assistance of Pakistan.
Also Pakistani government has announced that conversation plan with Taliban has been progressed, although no kind of talk as come forth till now.
The Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar told to the opposition parties that formal conversation with Taliban will begin very soon.
The Pakistani Defence Minister recently stated that US drone attacks in country’s tribal areas has far more killed 67 civilians and 2,160 militants in Pakistan from 2008.
